Northwest Hills Neighborhood Profile
Just a few miles from downtown, Northwest (NW) Hills provides suburban living with a combination of mixed retail space, restaurants, and housing. This area sits west of Mopac with Spicewood Springs Road to the north, RM 2222 to the south, and Mesa Drive to the west. NW Hills has a mix of housing including apartments, town homes, condos, and single and multi-family homes. Less than five miles to campus, many University of Texas students find affordable housing in spots close to Mopac and catch a shuttle bus into campus.
Mostly built in the 1960s and 70s, many homes here have been completely remodeled to modern standards but much of the original character remains. Some estate size homes and larger heavily treed lots exist here. Large oaks are spread throughout the area providing an expansive canopy for outdoor enthusiasts. Although considered a sleepy, quiet part of town by many, dog walkers, joggers, and bicyclists exercise here day and night. Businesses include locally owned bakeries, shops, and Northwest Hills Pharmacy – an Austin staple for over 50 years.
Northwest Hills feeds AISD Doss Elementary, a Blue Ribbon School, along with Anderson High School which boasts a renowned International Baccalaureate program. Private school options include The Dell Jewish Community Center and the Magellan International School.See Northwest Hills Homes for Sale
