Allandale Neighborhood Profile

The Allandale neighborhood lies between Mopac and Burnet Road, with West Anderson Lane to the north and Hancock Drive to the south. The convenient central location allows for easy access to destinations all over Austin, many of which can be reached without using major highways. Homes here are generally smaller, single-story, built in the1950s, and sit on larger lots.  Many maintain their original structure and character, although there are plenty of remodeled options too.  For this reason, you’ll find empty nesters, young professionals, and families moving in.   A strong sense of community exists in this area with tree-lined streets and several parks within the neighborhood.

Many iconic shops and businesses started here including Austin’s own Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Terra Toys, Conan’s Pizza, and Amy’s Ice Cream.  Also now home to HopDoddy, some of the best burgers and beer around! Recently Northcross Mall, a mix of chain and local businesses, underwent a major renovation.

Students attend AISD schools, including highly ranked Gullett Elementary and McCallum High School.  The Fine Arts Academy at McCallum provides an exemplary arts education program to pursue an accelerated arts curriculum as fine arts majors.  Paragon Preparatory and The Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired are also nearby.
